NFL reviewing potential misuse of logos by porn industry event

The NFL is investigating potential improper use of team property in ads for Exxotica 2011, a porn industry event.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy told WLS-TV in Chicago that the NFL is checking whether Exxxotica improperly used photos of players in their official team uniforms when promoting an event in Miami last month.

"Our legal team is reviewing the ad. In general, companies not affiliated with the NFL or its clubs may not depict a player in his uniform" McCarthy told the station.

Exxxotica 2011 -- which bills itself as "carnival meets sexy sideshow" -- is hosting four events this year. The first was in Miami and the next is set for next month in the Chicago area.

WLS-TV reported that an ad for the Miami event showed Chicago Bears S Major Wright and touted him as a host for the event in his uniform.

Bears spokesman Jim Christman told the station the team was unhappy with its logo and apparel being used without its sanction.

"This is an improper use of team marks and the Chicago Bears are not associated with this ad," he said.

San Diego Chargers first-round pick Corey Liuget was also listed as a host.

Neither Wright nor Liuget have commented on the issue.
